Mike Doughty performing "Busting Up A Starbucks" on the Starbucks Stage at the Mural Amphitheatre. I'm not sure he was even aware who the corporate overlords were in that section of the festival.
Shortly thereafter came a discussion about how he was neither hetero- or homosexual, but instead is JoeBidensexual.
That was about the point where we decided to go check out Death Cab for Cutie.

Four days of Central Washington adventures later (featuring 400+ photos, 90-degree days, six rainstorms, eighteen bands, one cranky security guard, hundreds of stoned/drunk dumbass festival-goers, eight hundred miles of 45+mpg travel, and one gigantic tree crashing down mere yards away from the car), I have returned to the land of lattes. Jasper was so thrilled upon our return that he immediately raced over to his food bowl and wolfed down his remaining dinner.
More to come, but now I've got camping gear to unpack and moving boxes to pack.

Tom Brosseau gave a free in-store performance at Sonic Boom Records in Capitol Hill on Friday. Here are a few shots from that event (plus one stray picture from the Matthew Good show), taken from a lousy vantage point with audience members and microphones in the way of many shots. Live and learn, and find a better vantage point next time!

On a vaguely related note, I think my digital point-and-shoot is destined for digital equipment heaven in the near future. Those green specks visible throughout the shot were in the exact same spot on every picture I took last night, and strongly imply that the CCD chip is burned out.

- KEXP 90.3 in the national advertisements for Microsoft's Zune music player (alas I can't find a screencap or link to the ad right now...)
- This on Google Chat's help page for sharing with your contacts the music that you are currently playing...

Curiously, one item not on the menu? Chop suey. (In fairness they're primarily a Thai kitchen, but c'mon, the marketing potential is obvious!)
Also, six-word review of Hypatia Lake: lovechild of Spinal Tap and Queensryche.

A song I'd forgotten about, and yet the timing of its return to my consciousness was impeccable.
While you were sleeping
The babies grew, the stars shined and the shadows moved
Time flew, the phone rang
There was a silence when the kitchen sang
Its songs competed like kids for space
We stared for hours in our maker's faceElvis Perkins - While You Were Sleeping
UPDATE: And another...
Something filled up
My heart with nothing
Someone told me not to cry
But now that I'm older
My heart's colder
And I can see that it's a lieArcade Fire - Wake Up
