Suspension of Pearls
Due to the crisis* of a very recent** discovery of ringworm on Pearl's left ear, I am hereby announcing a suspension of all blogging-related activities*** until such time as the crisis is resolved and a pill**** is prescribed, and I will be rushing back to the animal clinic to ensure a successful diagnosis and make sure the vet's handwriting is sufficiently legible.
* Resulting in no change to our normal routines.
** Okay, so it's actually been there for at least three weeks, but there was no solid evidence it was ringworm until just three days ago when the tests performed by an outside expert came back positive.
*** Whereby I mean I will continue my typical posting schedule of about one post every ten days, unless I feel like doing more or less, and I will continue to read other peoples' blogs for insight and analysis.
**** And it better be precisely the pill I read about online, and not some ointment or other 'compromise' salve...
Purrsday: Jiffy Poof!
Jiffy was adopted yesterday. Here's his debriefing photo (click to enlarge), just before he turned in his badge and keys and headed off to his exciting new home, filled with cat condos and treats and six-year-olds with string toys. Now we'll see how Jasper and Pearl get along without their licking and wrestling buddy.
Puffin Crusin’
The Port Townsend Marine Science Center offers what they call Puffin Cruises on several Saturdays during the summer. The cruise goes to Protection Island NWR and other bird hotspots near Port Townsend.
We went on August 9, and here are some mediocre photos from that excursion. But hey, six new species spotted (most important among them the puffin, seen above), and a zillion eagles!
Bumbershoot amusement of the weekend
Mike Doughty performing "Busting Up A Starbucks" on the Starbucks Stage at the Mural Amphitheatre. I'm not sure he was even aware who the corporate overlords were in that section of the festival.
Shortly thereafter came a discussion about how he was neither hetero- or homosexual, but instead is JoeBidensexual.
That was about the point where we decided to go check out Death Cab for Cutie.
